Please find here below some information on the precautionary measures taken by certain Member States and Third Countries in relation to FMD in UK, in addition to the ones already taken by the UK by means of national legislation and to the ones being taken at EU level by means of a Commission Decision.

Confirmed measures taken (or not taken)

France

• Ban on all animal gatherings. Collection centres and markets cannot operate. However, movements are allowed in France, meaning that exports directly from holdings can take place, but exports from collecting centres or passing through them cannot take place.
• Census of all relevant importations from the UK and examinations in holdings possibly concerned.

Netherlands

• Ban on all movements of susceptible animals, unless for direct transportation to slaughterhouses.
• Census of all relevant importations from the UK and examinations in holdings possibly concerned.

Italy

• No additional national measures have been taken so far.

Provisional information collected from the press and subject to confirmation

Denmark - Sweden - Norway

• No specific measures have been taken.
• No susceptible animals have been imported from UK to Denmark since the end of May and to Sweden.
• The authorities however are carrying out an information campaign in particular towards people having visited the UK recently and having come into contact with animals there relating to biosecurity measures.

Ireland

• National ban on imports of live susceptible animals and products thereof (meat, un-pasteurised milk) from the UK.
• Biosecurity measures on vehicles and passengers coming from the UK.

Germany

• One holding is under observation because of a recent introduction of ovine animals having been imported from the UK in July.
• Census of all relevant importations from the UK and examinations in holdings possibly concerned.

Romania

• Census of all relevant importations from the UK and examinations in holdings possibly concerned.

Switzerland

• No additional national measures taken.

USA

• National ban on imports of pork and products thereof from the UK, including products already on their way to the USA.

Japan

• National ban on imports of pork from the UK.

Singapore

• National ban on imports of meat from susceptible species from the UK, excluding meat products.

South Korea

• National ban on imports of pork from the UK.
