New outbreak confirmed

The second outbreak of the disease was confirmed this morning, following to last night's suspicion. The second outbreak is located within the protection zone already established. Culling of all animals was already initiated yesterday and is being completed. The virus involved (serotype O) is being analysed in order to check if it is exactly the same as the one involved in the first outbreak.

Amendment of the protection/surveillance zones

Due to the second outbreak, the protection and surveillance zones have been slightly enlarged.

Further information will follow when available, hopefully including some information on the movements that took place from the new affected holding in the last weeks. A report from UK authorities is expected later on today.
